TeamViewer

  • TeamViewer is a software application allows for remote control, desktop sharing and file transfer between computers.
  • TeamViewer was founded in Uhingen, Germany in 2005.
  • TeamViewer is compatible with multiple platforms, including Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, iOS, and Android.
  • It is also possible to access a machine running TeamViewer with a web browser.

Establishing a connection

  • It is designed to work either by installing it on a computer or running a "Quick Support" version that does not require installation.
  • To connecting to the other computer TeamViewer should be running in both the computer.
  • To install TeamViewer administrator access is required, but once installed it can be run by any user.
  • When TeamViewer is started on a computer, it generates a partner ID and password (user-defined passwords are also supported).
  • To establish a connection between a local client and a remote client, TeamViewer generated ID and password are required for both.


  • To start an online meeting, the presenter gives the meeting ID to the participants. They join the meeting by using the TeamViewer full version or by logging on to http://go.teamviewer.com/ and entering the meeting ID.

Advantages

  • TeamViewer allows the file-transfer between the computers.
  • It is free if used for non-commercial purposes , It is very secure.
  • You can remote access to unlimited remote computers.
  • You can access your data and applications at anytime and anywhere.
  • The portable version is available so , no install is required.

Disadvantages

  • It does not allow fast file transfers.
  • It can not be able to upload/download large files over the internet.
  • TeamViewer does not work through proxy server.
