Photoshop Tools

  • When you start Photoshop, the Tools panel appears at the left of the screen.
  • Some tools in the Tools panel have options that appear in the context-sensitive options bar.
  • Using the small triangle at the right of the tool icon signals you can see the hidden tools.
  • You can view information about any tool by positioning the pointer over it. The name of the tool appears in a tool tip below the pointer.


Selection Tools
Move Tool: Move tool allows you to move objects. Usually it is used to move layers around after it has been placed.


Marquee Tool: The marquee tools make rectangular, elliptical, single row, and single column selections.


Lasso Tool: The lasso tools make freehand, polygonal (straight-edged), and magnetic (snap-to) selections.


Magic Wand Tool: The Magic Wand tool selects similarly colored areas.


Crop and Slice Tools
crop Tool: It helps you to cut the area of graphics which you want to crop.


Slice Tool: Through this tool you can frankly slice the page and design the wonderful menu, sidebar, button, header etc.
Measuring Tools
Eyedropper Tool: It is a greatest color picker tool. Through this you can pick a color of any pixel from the narrow places as your requirement.


Color Sampler Tool: The Color Sampler tool displays color values for up to four areas.
Count Tool: Used to count the objects in image.


Retouching Tools
Spot Healing Brush: It used to remove blemishes and objects.


Healing Brush Tool: The healing brush tool points with a sample or pattern to repair imperfection in a image.


Patch Tool: It repairs imperfection in a selected area of an image using a sample or pattern.


Red Eye Tool: Remove the red reflection caused by a flash.


Clone Stamp Tool: It points with a sample of an image.


Pattern Stamp Tool: It points with part of an images as a pattern.
Eraser Tool: Erase pixels and restores part of an image to a previously saved state.
Background Eraser: It erases areas to transparency by dragging.
Magic Eraser Tool: It erases solid-colored areas to transparency with a single click.
Blur Tool: It blurs hard edges in an image.


Sharpen Tool: It will sharpen soft edges in an image.
Smudge Tool: Smudges data in an images.


Dodge Tool: This tool used to lightens areas in an image.


Burn Tool: It darkens areas in an image.


Sponge Tool: Changes the color saturation of an area.


Painting Tools
Brush Tool: It paints the brush stroke.
Pencil Tool: It paints hard edges strokes.
Color Replacement Tool: It used to replaces a selected color with a new color.


Mixer Brush Tool: Simulates realistic painting techniques such as blending canvas colors and varying paint wetness.
History Brush Tool: It paints a copy of the selected state or snapshot into the current image window.
Art History Brush Tool: It paints with stylized strokes that simulate the look of different paint styles, using a selected state or snapshot.
Gradient Tool: It create straight-line, radial, angle, reflected, and diamond blends between colors.


Paint Bucket Tool: It fills similarly colored areas with the foreground color.


Drawing and Type Tools
Path selection Tools: Used to make shape or segment selections showing anchor points, direction lines, and direction points.


Type Tools: Used to create text on an image.
Type Mask Tools: Used to create a selection in the shape of type.
Pen Tool: It let you draw smooth-edged paths.
Shape Tools and Line Tool: Used to draw shapes and lines in a normal layer or a shape layer.
Custom Shape Tool: It makes customized shapes selected from a custom shape list.


Navigation Tool
Hand Tool: Used to moves an image within its window.


Rotate View Tool: Used to rotate the canvas non-destructively.
Zoom Tool: It magnifies and reduces the view of an image.
