Cute FTP

  • Cute FTP is a windows based FTP application that gives users the ability to upload, download and edit files on remote FTP servers around the world.
  • It is distributed and supported by GlobalSCAPE since 1996.
  • Whether you are a novice or advanced PC user, cute FTP allows you to utilize the capabilities of FTP without having to know all the details of the protocol itself.
  • Cute FTP 8 home simplifies FTP by offering a user friendly windows interface instead of a unmanageable command line utility.

Advantages

  • File transfer capability: It does not take much time to transfer files through email and other similar services.
  • Secured file transfer: Sometimes we want files being transferred, which are supposed to be for private view, only may be accessed by others. In order to prevent that advanced file sharing is available in cute FTP.
  • Organized work files: When you are moving documents and other files, most especially if you are just using email transfer, the tendency is that the more important files will be buried by the constant incoming messages. With cute FTP, the files will be stored in folders.

Launching cute FTP

  • After installing cute FTP, launch it by clicking on the start button > all programs > globalscape > Cute FTP home and select the cute FTP home icon. It will take you to its main screen.
  • The main screen is used to transfer files to and from remote servers and is divided into four windows:
    1. An upper window (the log pane)
    2. Two center windows (the local and remote panes)
    3. A lower window (the queue pane)
  • The two center windows represent files available on local and remote drives, much like windows explorer.
  • When you first open cute FTP home, the upper window will be hidden.

Establishing a connection

  • We can connect to any site listed in the cute FTP Site Manager.
  • Must have a internet connection before you can connect to any sites.
